EC to investigate Nokia/Navteq merger

The European Commission has opened an investigation into Nokia’s plans to buy American digital map supplier Navteq for $8.1 billion. The deal was announced last year. The EC says it’s concerned whether the merger would increase the costs for other companies that provide mobile navigation services. A decision will be made by 8th August 2008.
