Mobile dog tracker launched by Orange and Retrieva

Hey - it's our third dog story this year! Tracking company Retrieva has just launched its Tracking and Anti-theft dog collar in association with Orange. The collar combines GPS, GSM and RFID technologies; there's a home base station that lets you know if your dog leaves home and an Orange SIM to send alerts if the collar is removed. You can also track your dog on your mobile phone if it goes missing... and there's even a panic alarm for isolated dog walkers. Mobile phone sniffer dogs for US prisons

The state of Florida now has a 'sniffer dog' to prevent mobile phones from being smuggled into prisons. Its Department of Corrections has a 14-month-old Malinois (think 'Alsatian', but a little bit bigger) called Razor that'll be starting work next month. Her job is reinfored by a new law that carries a potential five-year prison term for anyone trying to smuggle in a mobile. [Source: Cellular-News.com]

Mobile Phone Throwing championships won by dog

The 9th international Mobile Phone Throwing World Championships took place in Estonia last week with, perhaps unsurprisingly, Estonians winning the men's and women's categories. The men's champion was Timmo Lilium who threw a phone for 85 metres, while Valeria Kadorova won the women's championship with a throw of 36 meters. 12-year-old Finn Riku Kankkunen threw 55 metres in the junior category, while Cara the dog won the freestyle category with a maximum 6 points.
