3G iPhone is four times more interesting

UK interest in the 3G Apple iPhone is almost four times more than interest in the 2G version, according to O2. It says more than 130,000 people have pre-registered their interest in the phone and would like more information, compared with 35,000 people who registered their details before the previous phone went on sale in November 2007. We're not very bright when talking business on our mobile phones. That seems to be the message from Vodafone, which says indiscreet mobile conversations are a threat to company security. More than 70% of all employees talk about business on their mobile phones in public, with 15% discussing confidential new products or services. Worse still, 26% confessed to following up on a lead they'd overheard in someone else's phone conversation. Vodafone suggests using more discrete methods of communication, such as text or mobile email, when on the move. Vodafone and O2 reject Ofcom plans

The Guardian reports that Vodafone and O2 have both objected to Ofcom's plans to claim back part of the 900Mhz radio spectrum - used since the 1980s by the two mobile phone networks - and sell it for 3G services.
